La fiesta VIP del Power Ball! “Stereo Vision”

PRIMERO
¿Cómo crear una situación donde las personas puedan ser tanto los invitados a la fiesta, y, al mismo tiempo los “extras” de la potencial copia de la fiesta coreografiada? ¿Cómo crear un evento donde las reglas entre ser un “espectador pasivo” y un “contribuidor activo” no solamente coexisten, pero de hecho se pueden encimar creando un juego de espejos tanto hipnotizante como divertido? ¡Todos deben convertiste en performers! 

DESPUÉS

La pintura representa todo lo que buscamos: la representación de un evento público (una especie de fiesta, en un teatro) con un público que de pronto entra el marco a través de un juevo de espejos, duplicaciones y mis-en-abyme.

ENTONCES – LA PROPUESTA:
Una instalación de “una fiesta dentro de una fiesta”, donde la puesta en escena de acciones normales asociadas a una fiesta son reproducidas durante la noche creando un sentimiento de duplicidad, y de espejos con una sutileza pero puntual coreografía.
Se lleva a cabo dentro de un teatro que carece de escenario, las jerarquías que pertenecen usualmente a un teatro desaparecen; La plataforma plana está rodeada por una cortina de terciopelo roja, convirtiendo así al espacio en un solo escenario, que a su vez será la escena de una fiesta; con 4 barras idénticas, 2 espejadas en una mitad y las otras dos en la otra, son acompañadas por un juego de luces que constantemente divide a los dos espacios, bañándolos de distintos colores. Permitiéndote de pronto percibir ese otro lado, el espejo de un espejo que luego es proyectado a la cortina.
Dentro de la arquitectura que ya amplifica la repetición y la duplicación,  una serie de ejecuciones de vignettes (o tableux-vivant en movimiento) aparecerán y desaparecerán en tiempos puntuales durante la noche. Cada vignette representara una acción común de una fiesta, algo que frecuentemente pasa, sin ninguna planeación durante una noche similar a la del Power Ball. Se llevarán a cabo en posiciones espejeadas, acompañada de un sonido específico que se repetirá cada vez que esa acción se lleve a cabo.
Es una fiesta de 2 horas y cada segundo está planeado. La playlist le da la pauta a los actores y el cambio de luces te hace consciente de que algo está sucediendo, los vignettes aparecen y desaparecen con sutileza durante la noche, y lo harán en puntos específicos del escenario, constantemente espejeándose y utilizando el diseño del espacio, aumentan la naturaleza de duplicidad, finalmente haciendo del cuarto una especie de calidoscopio.

FIRST

How to create a situation where people would become both the participants of a party and, at the same time, the ‘extras’ of its potential choreographed copy? An event where the rules between being a ‘passive spectator’ and an ‘active contributor’ would not just coexist, but might actually overlap creating a mirroring game, both mesmerizing and fun?

THEN

The painting: Edouard Manet –  A Bar at the Folies-Bergère, 1882. The painting had all we were looking for: the depiction of a public event (a party of sorts, in a theatre) with an audience suddenly entering the picture through a game of mirroring, duplication and mis-en-abyme.

SO, THE PROPOSAL

An installation of a ‘party inside a party’, where the staging of actions normally associated to a party get reenacted throughout the night creating a sense of duplication, of mirroring, of slight yet punctual choreography. The party takes place inside a theater, in order to break the hierarchy of spectator and performer, the stage gets leveled to become one platform. The flat platform is surrounded by a red velvet curtain, converting the platform into one stage, that will host and stage the party. Four identical bars, 2 in one side and its mirror in the other are symmetrically placed as a statement for the duplicity of space, accompanied with a subtle play of lights that shift color imitating each other throughout the night. Within the architecture that already booster’s repetition and doubling, a series of performed vignettes (or moving tableaux-vivant) will appear and disappear at regular times during the evening. Each vignette will represent a common party scene, something that frequently would happen, without any planning, during a night similar to the Power Ball night. They will take place at mirroring positions, accompanied by a specific sound, that will repeat each time the action takes place. It is a 2-hour party and everything is planned to the second. The playlist gives the performers its ques and the change of light makes you aware that somethings other is taken place (maybe in an alternate reality), these simple vignettes will appear and disappear throughout the evening. They will do so in specific points of the room by constantly mirroring one another and by using the design of the space to enhance their doubling nature, finally making of the room (and of the whole night) a sort of live kaleidoscope.
